Yoko Ono’s work, My Mommy is Beautiful is a tribute to all Mothers of the World from each of your children; a celebration of the love that nurtures us all.
INVITATION TO TAKE PART
Visitors are invited to write a thought or memory about their mothers, or bring a photograph, and attach it to the canvases. Very quickly, the canvases become completely covered in memories and messages, which soon cover the walls as well.

VIDEOMATON INTERACTION

This year for the first time we have introduced the videomaton at the festival. The idea is that the public can film themselves in our special booth and leave a performative response to a particular theme. This year we are asking people to leave a message in response to the exhibition My Mommy is Beautiful by Yoko Ono. The title of the Videomaton for this year is “I Love You Yoko” and we will be making a DVD compilation of the best of yourperformance contributions to send to Yoko for her 80th
birthday.

An open conversation led by Jane Haile on the subject of Who’s Standing up for Feminism?
A social anthropologist, she has more than 28 years experience working in international development, primarily with UNICEF, in Southeast Asia, the Caribbean, West Africa, the Middle East and the Balkans. Currently she is based in Brussels as an independent consultant working on gender, social development and human rights for the UN, the EU and bilateral donors. She is a mother and a grandmother.

MARIA DOS MILAGRES. PORTUGAL
Her essay-actions refer to a place of re encounter between different worlds where life adjustments are
made by the displacement of the mental and physical space, creating an area between absurdity, dream and tragedy.

LESLEY YENDELL. ENGLAND/SPAIN
An English sculptor based in Spain, she has worked on various projects in Europe, most recently the exhibition ‘Transposers’ at MCAC (Northern Ireland). Her work is drawn from every day domestic objects and the domesticated landscape of the wine producing area of the Penedes. The processes involved in her sculptural work have led her to explore her ideas in actions and performative works. “Her works suggest stories, ask questions while at the same time oscillating between their various realities – a genuine melding of different disciplines to create some thing unique……”

BENEDICTE CLEMENTSEN. NORWAY
A visual artist, her work is multidisciplinary and often collaborative, her practice is centred in performance and installation. At present she is studying Fine Art at Bergen National Academy of Art. She has shown her work in festivals and galleries internationally. She co-produced the International
performance art festival ”Never or Now” (Bergen, 2011) and was founding member of the board for Performance Art Bergen.

ANGELA GARCIA. SPAIN
Experimental artist, performer, events organiser and independent promoter. She is a member of Sinberifora Cultural Association and helps organise the Arrt d’Accció Performance Art Programme in Octubre CCC in Valencia. Her art practice explores the relationships between space, words, letters and subtle gesture, rhythm and beat. Her work investigates the idea of the body as a sculptural material as well as awareness and context. She uses visual poetry, wordplay, objects, sounds as well as other experiments.

An Irish artist based in Krakow, Poland she has presented her distinctive movement based live art, performance, video and installation work internationally for nearly 30 years She has won numerous awards for her work and has benefited from residency opportunities in Spain, Holland, Canada, UK, Poland and Ireland . As well as beingVa lecturer, she was for many years a freelance organiser of Live
Art events in Ireland. Her artistic practice aims to draw parallels between artists use of self Image across a variety of art forms and her current work features a combination of media: video, live action, drawn and painted images, photography, site-specific installation, printed texts and interaction with the audience.

MARINA TORRINGTON. SPAIN
A student at the Massana Schoolof Art in Barcelona, Marina is one of the young artists who were given a grant to go to the IPA performance Art Summer School in Istanbul, Turkey this summer as part of the FEM festival programme. She has presented her performances at the IES Alexandre Deulofeu and at
the festival Empordaneses as well as at IPA.

ANNIVERSARY – AN ACT OF MEMORY
ANNIVERSARY – An Act of Memory is a performance series in 60 acts focusing on the importance and relevance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and features solo, collective and multilingual recitations from memory of UDHR by Monica Ross and Co-recitors.

You are invited to take part in a collective recitation of the UDHR in Girona by learning and reciting individual articles in your preferred language. Everyone is welcome and we hope that the recitation will fully reflect the many voices and languages of local communities. You don’t have to be a performer or an actor.

A performance artist committed to the live engagement with an audience through images and actions. She holds a Master in Fine Art from Glasgow School of Art (2005) and has shown her work in festivals and galleries in Europe, USA & Asia. She teaches, lectures and engages in projects promoting visual performance art and artists. She collaborates with Brazilian artist RaquelNicoletti as “Suspended”, and Scottish artist Moray Hillary as“Nedregard & Hillary”.

NORA TINHOLT. HOLLAND
She has collaborated since 2010, with Japanese performance artist Toru Fujimoto. They both graduated
from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. Her solo work will share her ideas ideas about play and reality, and
her discoveries about the relation between animal and human behaviour. Nora is invited in collaboration with To Be Present, Amsterdam.

ANA MAESO. SPAIN
She has a master in Visual Art and Education from the University of Granada (2011). Her research is
centred in performance and live art as well as social intervention, audiovisuals, critical pedagogy, gender theory and creation and education as forces of social change. Her practise has included photography and video. She collaborates with art collectives, such as Espacio Auxiliar, Caterva Arte de Acción as well as Gresol Association, that produce and promote cultural events outside of the conventional art circuits. She was given a grant this summer to go to the IPA performance Art Summer
School in Istanbul, Turkey as part of FEM_12.

LUCIA PEIRO. SPAIN
She has a Degree in Fine Art from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. She has been involved in multidisciplinary and live art since the early 1990’s as well as visual and phonetic poetry.
She was a member of Comedor de Ideas with the Anca group. Since 2007 she has been a member of Sinberifora Cultural Association and and helps to organise the Arrt d’Accció Performance Art Programme in Octubre CCC in Valencia. She is also part of the group 3 i No Res with Bartolomé
Ferrando y Avelino Saavedra.

ANDREA SAEMANN. SWITZERLAND
Artist and curator working in Basel/Switzerland. She loves to work in artists initiatives and platforms. She was coordinator of Kaskadenkondensator, a space for contemporary art and performance in Basel (1997-2000). In 2001 in collaboration with Annina Zimmermann (art historian and art producer) she curated the outdoor project Helle Nächte and together with Lena Eriksson initiated the project space Ladypop in Basel. She worked together with Katrin Grögel (art historian) on Performance Saga
(2002-2011), a project that transmits and updates the history of Performance Art and promotes a dialogue between the generations.

MARILYN ARSEM. USA
Marilyn Arsem has been creating live events since 1975, ranging from solo performances to large-scale
interactive works incorporating installation and performance. She has presented her work throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and North and South America. She is a full-time faculty member at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where she teaches performance art, and is a graduate adviser.
