Yoko Ono is an artist whose thought provoking work challenges people’s understanding of art and the world around them. From the beginning of her career, her work encompassed performance, instructions, film, music and writing.
MY MOMMY IS BEAUTIFUL
Yoko Ono’s work, My Mommy is Beautiful is a tribute to all Mothers of the World from each of your children; a celebration of the love that nurtures us all.
INVITATION TO TAKE PART
Visitors are invited to write a thought or memory about their mothers, or bring a photograph, and attach it to the canvases. Very quickly, the canvases become completely covered in memories and messages, which soon cover the walls as well.

open to (male and female) art students and professionals as well as sixth form art students. Only
limited places are available.

TEN MOMENTS, TEN WOMEN, MIRROR OF AN ARCHIVE
The launch of a new FEM collection of postcards, selected from the Arxiu Aire exclusively for FEM and featuring photographs documenting live art works by ten different women performance artists. The photographer and Arxiu Aire director Joan Casellas will present the postcards.

CONVERSATION INTERACTION

JANE HAILE. ENGLAND
An open conversation led by Jane Haile on the subject of Who’s Standing up for Feminism?
A social anthropologist, she has more than 28 years experience working in international development, primarily with UNICEF, in Southeast Asia, the Caribbean, West Africa, the Middle East and the Balkans. Currently she is based in Brussels as an independent consultant working on gender, social development and human rights for the UN, the EU and bilateral donors. She is a mother and a grandmother.

MARIA DOS MILAGRES. PORTUGAL
Her essay-actions refer to a place of re encounter between different worlds where life adjustments are
made by the displacement of the mental and physical space, creating an area between absurdity, dream and tragedy.

LESLEY YENDELL. ENGLAND/SPAIN
An English sculptor based in Spain, she has worked on various projects in Europe, most recently the exhibition ‘Transposers’ at MCAC (Northern Ireland). Her work is drawn from every day domestic objects and the domesticated landscape of the wine producing area of the Penedes. The processes involved in her sculptural work have led her to explore her ideas in actions and performative works. “Her works suggest stories, ask questions while at the same time oscillating between their various realities – a genuine melding of different disciplines to create some thing unique……”

BENEDICTE CLEMENTSEN. NORWAY
A visual artist, her work is multidisciplinary and often collaborative, her practice is centred in performance and installation. At present she is studying Fine Art at Bergen National Academy of Art. She has shown her work in festivals and galleries internationally. She co-produced the International
performance art festival ”Never or Now” (Bergen, 2011) and was founding member of the board for Performance Art Bergen.

ANGELA GARCIA. SPAIN
Experimental artist, performer, events organiser and independent promoter. She is a member of Sinberifora Cultural Association and helps organise the Arrt d’Accció Performance Art Programme in Octubre CCC in Valencia. Her art practice explores the relationships between space, words, letters and subtle gesture, rhythm and beat. Her work investigates the idea of the body as a sculptural material as well as awareness and context. She uses visual poetry, wordplay, objects, sounds as well as other experiments.

ANNE SEAGRAVE. IRELAND/POLAND
An Irish artist based in Krakow, Poland she has presented her distinctive movement based live art, performance, video and installation work internationally for nearly 30 years She has won numerous awards for her work and has benefited from residency opportunities in Spain, Holland, Canada, UK, Poland and Ireland . As well as beingVa lecturer, she was for many years a freelance organiser of Live
Art events in Ireland. Her artistic practice aims to draw parallels between artists use of self Image across a variety of art forms and her current work features a combination of media: video, live action, drawn and painted images, photography, site-specific installation, printed texts and interaction with the audience.

MARINA TORRINGTON. SPAIN
A student at the Massana Schoolof Art in Barcelona, Marina is one of the young artists who were given a grant to go to the IPA performance Art Summer School in Istanbul, Turkey this summer as part of the FEM festival programme. She has presented her performances at the IES Alexandre Deulofeu and at
the festival Empordaneses as well as at IPA.
